West Cumbria Beer and Cider Festival This year's festival will be in the Market Hall at Egremont Friday October 29th: 6pm - 11pm and Saturday October 30th: 12 - 5pm and 6 - 11pm. Entry will be £2 for any session, and free for CAMRA members As a new venture, we are really looking forward to it!  As there are only two real ale pubs in the town, one currently closed, we are hoping to awaken interest in real ale and in the two local breweries: Great Gable in Egremont and Blackbeck, in the hotel of the same name, just down the road. There will be 18 ales, six from Cumbria and 12 specially chosen seasonals or specials from quality brewers around the country Ciders will be selected by our regional cider coordinator, and cover the range from sweet, medium to dry, and there will be one perry - a cider-like drink which is made from pears, instead. Here is the beers list! Food will be by Lakeland food to go - a very popular food outlet in the town, worth trying for hot breakfasts and dinners, homemade cakes and pies, baguettes with interesting fillings, all to eat in or take away. This place is much used by workers in the town as well as residents. One of the most exciting things is a chance to help brew and name the festival special ale. This will be at Great Gable brewery, in Egremont, working with Giles, the head brewer, sometime during September.
